Certificate IV in Business is a nationally recognised program suited to the needs of first level managers or supervisors and people who display informal leadership skills.
The program consists of 10 units and can be delivered in a variety of ways
- classroom training,
- one on one delivery,
- online study, or
- a combination of the above.

The online course fee of $1800 per person includes participant work book and assessment projects. Blended delivery is available for $2500 (minimum class size of 10 people)
Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement and monitor the organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in order to meet legislative requirements.
Promote innovation in a team environment.
The key focus of the unit is on what makes for an innovative team, what keeps it working well, how the structure of work can make a difference and what skills and knowledge are needed to maximise opportunities for innovation.
Develop teams and individuals.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to determine individual and team development needs and to facilitate the development of the workgroup.
Address customer needs.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage the ongoing relationship with a customer, which includes assisting the customer to articulate their needs, meeting customer needs and managing networks to ensure customer needs a re addressed.
Identify risk and apply risk management techniques.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify risks and to apply established risk management processes to a subset of an organisation or project’s operations that are within the person’s own work responsibilities and area of operation
Show leadership in the workplace.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead teams and individuals by modelling high standards of conduct to reflect the organisation’s standards and values. It applies to individuals who are making the transition from being a team member to taking responsibility for the work and performance of others and providing the first level of leadership within the organisation. These managers have a strong influence on the work culture, values and ethics of the teams they supervise
Lead team effectiveness.
This unit defines skills, knowledge and outcomes required to plan and supervise the performance of the team and develop team cohesion. It applies team leaders, supervisors and new emerging managers who have an important leadership role in the development of efficient and effective work teams.
Lead effective workplace relationships.
This unit defines skills, knowledge and outcomes required to use leadership to promote team cohesion. It includes motivating, mentoring, coaching and developing the team and forming the bridge between the management of the organisation and team members. This unit applies to team leaders, supervisors and new or emerging managers where leadership plays a role in developing and maintaining effective workplace relationships.
Implement continuous improvement.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to implement the organisation’s continuous improvement systems and processes. It covers using systems and strategies to actively encourage the team to participate in the process, monitoring and reviewing performance, and identifying opportunities for further improvements.
Promote products and services.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to coordinate and review the promotion of an organisation’s products and services. It applies to individuals with a broad knowledge of the promotion of products and services specific to an organisation.
