The Diploma of Business is a nationally recognised credential which helps participants develop practical skills to manage a business or business unit.
The Diploma of Business comprises eight units:

Delivery of the units is carried out online. It can also be delivered in a blended learning way using classroom instruction, learner support material, project work and facilitator support between formal delivery sessions (minimum class size 10 people).
Manage human resources services
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan, oversee and deliver human resources services. It is not specific to any given human resources function and deals with the coordination of services and approaches.This unit takes an overview of human resources services and includes business ethics.
Implement continuous improvement
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement the organisation’s continuous improvement systems and processes. Particular emphasis is on using systems and strategies to actively encourage the team to participate in the process, monitoring and reviewing performance, and identifying opportunities for further improvements.
Manage meetings
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage a range of meetings including overseeing the meeting preparation processes, chairing meetings, organising the minutes and reporting meeting outcomes.
Undertake project work
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake a straight forward project or a section of a larger project. This unit addresses the management of projects, including developing a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalising the project, and reviewing the project to identify lessons learned for application to future projects.
Manage work force planning
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan work force strategies to achieve organisational goals and objectives.It includes assessing factors that may affect the supply of workers,aligning workforce objectives with business plans, and designing strategies and succession plans to ensure a competent and appropriately diverse workforce is available to meet anticipated changes. The unit covers the research associated with labour markets and the requirement to match organisational needs with employee skills and commitment.
Manage personal work priorities and professional development
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage own performance and professional development. Particular emphasis is on setting and meeting priorities, analysing information and using a range of strategies to develop further competence.
Lead and manage team effectiveness
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate all aspects of teamwork within the organisation. It involves taking a leadership role in the development of team plans, leading and facilitating teamwork and actively engaging with the management of the organisation.
Manage operational plan
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and monitor implementation of the operational plan to provide efficient and effective workplace practices within the organisation’s productivity and profitability plans. Management at a strategic level requires systems and procedures to be developed and implemented to facilitate the organisation’s operational plan.
